In addition to wayfinding and safety, strategic installation of signage throughout your parking facility can help increase your parking revenue. Here are a few ways:

  • Location visibility: Advertising your parking lot with on-street and exterior signs is the oldest trick in the book. Having a lit up “P” symbol outside of your parking lot makes the search for parking a lot easier. The bigger and brighter the P, the more drivers you are bound to attract, inevitably increasing your revenue. In addition to the P sign, on-street A-frames outside or at the intersection nearby is also a valuable way to increase business. If your parking lot is a garage, optimizing the exterior space of the building with parking communications is also an effective way to attract drivers to your parking facility. One thing to keep in mind: digital signage is always the most effective solution.

  • Digital space counters: Incorporating a digital sign at the entry of your lot that communicates how many parking spaces are available, and on which level, is a great way to attract drivers’ attention and entice them to park in your facility.

  • Stall identification: When we think of parking stalls being marked with signage, we usually think of restricted or reserved parking. However, parking space signage can be used to let people know where to park and what spaces are available.

  • Frequent visitor communications: If you offer overnight, long-term or monthly parking permits, you should communicate this with signage in your parking lot. It’s an effective way to increase your permit sales and recurring revenue.

  • Payment instructions: Having clear signage that instructs visitors how to pay for parking and what payment methods are accepted, such as a mobile app or credit card, will increase your revenue. For example, some drivers may be scouting a parking lot that accepts digital payments.

Applying a combination of digital and print signage on the exterior and interior of your parking facility is a smart way to communicate to your customers and help increase your parking revenue.
