How it Works: Cloud-based Parking Enforcement Technology and Mobile Payment

Because there are so many touchpoints along the life cycle of a handwritten parking violation—from issuance to appeals to collection—cloud-based parking enforcement technology is key for ultimate operational efficiency and full capture of your parking revenue.
You should explore cloud-based parking enforcement technology if:
You want to electronically enforce your lot
You want to manage free, paid, or mixed-use visitor parking
You want to issue violation notices and collect subsequent payments
So, how does cloud-based parking enforcement technology work?
Cloud-based parking enforcement technology is usually integrated with several payment methods, such as web or mobile apps, Pay-and-Display and Pay-by-Plate parking meters, indoor registration kiosks or tablets, and permit management systems.
Patrol officers are equipped with a portable Bluetooth printer and smart mobile device that works in tandem with the cloud-based enforcement application. The automated parking enforcement solution operates in real time to ensure increased accuracy and issuance of violations.
Patrol officers either enter the licence plate of the vehicle or automatically scan it if the enforcement application is integrated with licence plate recognition capabilities. This allows the offer to verify if the status of the parked vehicle is valid—and whether it was paid using a mobile app, parking meter, or permit registration. As soon as violations are printed, the corresponding data is simultaneously transmitted and stored in a secure database. And an authorized administrator can immediately access the information via the application.
