Parking validation solutions enable parking facility managers to provide complimentary or discounted parking to specific visitors. For example, a condominium may want to validate parking for its residents’ guests. A hotel may want to validate parking for conference attendees. A retail complex may want to give tenants the option to validate parking for their customers.

No matter the scenario, in order to validate parking, you need to have smart parking technology.

There are several different types of parking validations. For example, virtual validations are cloud-based solutions where your guests’ license plate is registered for free or discounted parking at a specific date and time. In these cases all the customer needs to do is park their car!

Some solutions allow you to create a validation code that is provided to a customer prior to their visit. When the customer arrives at the parking lot they can initiate their parking transaction (eg. at a parking meter, tablet, or mobile application) and simply use the code to apply the validation. This is a great solution when you are hosting large numbers of guests (one pin code can be used multiplied times for a specific date and time).

There’s also validation systems, which provide parking rebates using barcodes or QR codes. For example, a customer may receive a barcode on a printed coupon or digitally via email. When they arrive and/or exit the parking facility, they would scan their code to receive discounted parking. This solution is very common in a gated parking facility.

Being able to validate parking gives property managers the flexibility to treat guests with a VIP experience, reward them for their loyalty, and give them an incentive to return. With the emergence of online validation tools, creating and distributing validations to your customers has never been easier. These online systems also make fulfilling reporting requirements and financial reconciliations more efficient.
